This coming Sunday’s public worship in the parish will be at Holy Trinity.

Lovely service last evening at St Mark’s and well attended. Next Wednesday will feature Celtic communion.

Archbishop Edwards & suite have returned to NB from an extended visit with his father in the UK. He is currently missioner at the NB Christian Ashram at Brown’s Flats on the lower St John River.

There is good news. The US has been marking the 250^th anniversary of the transformation of resistance to British taxation policy into colonial revolution and declaration of independence. In Canada we have likewise been marking the failure of attempts by the new United States to add Quebec and the Maritimes as the 14^th and 15^th colonies in rebellion. Here in the Maritimes the crisis came in late 1776 when a group of Maine ruffians, ex-Maritimers in political exile, Amerindians and resident colonists from various locales including the St John River laid siege – unsuccessfully - to Fort Cumberland (aka Fort Beauséjour) on what is now the NB/NS boundary. Did you know that the leading study of this episode in the failure of the American Revolution is none other than Ernest Clarke’s prize-winning book The Siege of Fort Cumberland (1995)? Almost everything in Wikipedia’s entry on the siege and its context comes from Ernest’s book. It is fitting then that, as the stirring events of 250 years ago are commemorated this very weekend, Ernest is a headline presenter. To learn more:  [link].  To get the book:  [link].
